LWP Virtual Conference

Louisville Writing Project Virtual ConferenceUp to 10 hours of professional development credit available— 6 for the conference, 4 for optional follow-up sessions. To meet the needs of teachers experiencing ever-changing challenges of the 2020 school year, LWP will host a Virtual Conference on January 16. This year, all sessions will be shared online at a reduced rate (due to COVID-19). Several strands will be offered for you to choose from. These sessions and strands will address the need for writing in an ever-changing teaching landscape. Learn how to boost your writing instruction with skills you can take back to your classroom (face-to-face, virtual, etc.). Seal of Arts Excellence Guidance Now Available
The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) is pleased to announce new guidance for establishing a local Seal of Arts Excellence to recognize high school graduates who demonstrate an advanced level of specialization in one or more areas of visual and performing arts. The guidance can be found on the Seal of Arts Excellence webpage.
A new feature for creating a Seal of Arts Excellence on a student’s transcript will be available in Infinite Campus for the 2022-2023 school year. Districts will have the option of adding a Seal of Arts Excellence to a student’s transcript through the Graduation Tab that will include the date of completion as well as the area of specialization. KASC will be recognizing the council members across our state who are leading their schools. If you’d like to recognize one or more of your council members, please complete this brief Nomination Form and we’ll share with all of our members and on social media. Let’s lift up one another in 2023!
SBDM Election Kit
Now included FREE with membership! Access to our election kit is available to all KASC members through our Learning Management System (LMS). The kit includes advice for developing written procedures, guidance for online elections, forms to customize for every step of the process, and legal requirements. Everything is organized for the person/group running each election, so organizers don’t have to view the entire kit.
Academic Standards Family Guides Available
The Kentucky Academic Standards (KAS) family guides were developed to help families familiarize themselves with the content of each grade level’s standards. Each guide contains a standards overview for reading and writing, mathematics, science, and social studies. The guides are now available in Spanish and can be accessed on the Standards Family Guides & Resources webpage on the KY Standards website.
