Summer Conference Returns Onsite and Online

Kentucky History Education Conference (KHEC) is an annual conference presented by the Kentucky Historical Society for the state’s K-12 educators to share, learn about, and celebrate social studies. Participants enjoy sessions related to each of the 4 social studies themes – civics, economics, geography, and U.S. and world history – along with various humanities and interdisciplinary topics. Educators will learn practical classroom teaching strategies and historical content from scholars, and receive updates on the latest tech tools. KHEC offers an array of interactive activities and encourages participants to share successful tactics to integrate the KAS for Social Studies into the classroom.  Lastly, exhibitors from education-focused organizations and attractions will be on hand to share resources and opportunities available for Kentucky’s teachers and students.

For the first time, KHS presents our annual conference in both ONSITE and VIRTUAL components. For those who prefer the in-person experience, educators can spend the day at the Kentucky Historical Society in Frankfort for a day of learning, social studies experiences, and valuable networking. For those who choose the virtual option, participants can enjoy live online sessions and receive access to the KHEC Google Drive. Each component presents content for grades K-12 and is worth seven hours PD credit.

Submit a KHEC proposal! Proposals are due by April 15, 2022.

Do you have an innovative classroom practice or engaging social studies topic to share? Consider joining like-minded teachers as a presenter. The conference registration fee is waived for participants with an accepted proposal. Check back in May for a glimpse of the 2022 program!
