BOARD MEMBER NOMINEES

Region 1 Teacher
Cassie Ipock

I have served on four SBDM councils since 2006 in the roles of parent representative, teacher representative, and Vice-Chair.  I have also represented Region I on the KASC Board of Directors since 2009—as a parent and teacher.  I just completed my second term on the Executive Committee of the KASC as well—so, as you can see, the KASC’s mission of leading the way to success is near and dear to my heart.  School-Based Decision Making Councils are imperative in regards to student achievement, and through its role of supporting school councils, the KASC is instrumental in that effort.  I have been honored to represent Region I as an active Board member, and hope to continue in my service to my region and the KASC.

Region 2 Principal
Joey Norman

As a passionate and student-centered educational leader, I have served as the Region 2
Principal Representative for the Kentucky Association of School Councils for the past two years.
During this time, I have been committed to advocating for the voices of principals and
supporting the work of school councils in driving student achievement and equitable outcomes.
With a strong belief in shared leadership, innovation, and community collaboration, I am eager
to continue this important work.
I look forward to the opportunity to further represent Region 2 and contribute to initiatives that
empower schools, strengthen governance, and build lasting educational impact across the
Commonwealth.

Region 3 Principal
Angela Parsons

With a profound commitment to the world of education, I proudly hold a Ph.D., MBA, and MAT, forging a path of knowledge and leadership for over two decades. Additionally, I have earned certification as a school superintendent. As I embark on my 26th year in education, it's with great enthusiasm and a wealth of experiences to draw from. For the past nine years, I have had the privilege of serving as the K-12 principal of the J. Graham Brown School, a remarkably successful public magnet school, leading it to new heights of academic excellence and community engagement.

My journey extends beyond the school walls as well, having imparted knowledge and mentored the next generation of teachers, doctoral candidates, as well as pre-service school principals as an adjunct professor at three esteemed universities. The classroom has always been my sanctuary, where I've strived to inspire and empower students, fostering an environment of critical thinking and a passion for lifelong learning.

As a principal, I've honed my skills in leadership, administration, curriculum development, and staff management, culminating in the creation of a supportive and innovative educational ecosystem. The magic of education lies in its ability to transform lives, and I'm dedicated to ensuring that each student who walks through our doors finds the tools and encouragement they need to succeed.

In my adjunct professor roles, I've shared my expertise and practical insights, bridging the gap between theory and practice. My academic journey has been marked by continuous learning, resulting in a robust understanding of educational policy, student support, and community engagement.

I believe that the role of an educator is not merely a profession but a calling to inspire and shape the leaders of tomorrow. Every day, I strive to live up to this calling, contributing to the betterment of our society through the transformative power of education. As I look ahead, I eagerly anticipate the new opportunities to learn, grow, and inspire that each day in the field of education brings.

Region 4 Parent
Jen Bodeker

Hello! My name is Jen Bodeker and I am running for the
parent representative for the 4th district of the Kentucky
Association of School Councils. I am currently serving
my 3rd year on Moyer Elementary’s Site Based Decision
Making Committee and have thoroughly enjoyed my
time as a member. I was born and raised in Fort Thomas
and I am a proud alum of Moyer Elementary. My
husband Nathan and I have lived in Fort Thomas the
past 9 years, where we are happily raising our 3
children, Olivia, Myles, and Cooper. Olivia will be in 5th
grade for the 2025-2026 school year, Myles will be in 3rd
grade, and Cooper will be in kindergarten.
After graduating from Highlands High School, I attended the University of Louisville where I
earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Early Elementary Education with dual certification in
Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education. I also obtained my Master of Education degree in
Special Education: Moderate/Severe Disabilities through the University of Louisville. In July
2019, I earned my Special Education: Visually Impaired license through the Ohio State
University. I have been employed as a teacher for the past 14 years and have worked with all
grades preschool through 12th. I have taught both regular and special education. I am currently
a teacher of the visually impaired through the Hamilton County Educational Service Center. I
work with students from preschool all the way through high school, serving multiple districts
throughout Hamilton County.
For the past 4 school years, I have served on the Moyer Elementary PTO in various positions
and I was recently elected as President for the 2025-2026 school year. I have enjoyed being a
member of the PTO as it allows me to be actively involved within the school as well as give back
to our amazing teachers and staff. I volunteer at the school as much as my work schedule
allows. I have been able to serve lunch, participate in holiday parties as a room parent, teach
disability awareness lessons, volunteer in my children’s classrooms, and work at the book fair.
I believe my background as a teacher, knowledge of the interworking of schools, and experience
on both the Moyer Elementary PTO and SBDMC make me an ideal candidate for this position. I
am eager to serve in whatever capacity that is needed and will do so with absolute commitment
and dedication to the needs, vision, and ideas of Kentucky’s diverse families and students. If
elected as the parent representative, I will do my best to support and uphold the high standards
set forth by our state’s individual Site Based Decision Making Committees and strive to make
Kentucky a state to which other states' education systems look to for inspiration.
I would appreciate the opportunity to serve as parent representative for the 4th district of KASC
to ensure our students have the best educational experience possible.

Prior to serving as Principal, Mr. Cox worked as an assistant principal, interventionist, English teacher, athletic administrator, and football coach. Mr. Cox resides in Danville with his wife, Chelsea, and daughters, Caroline and Cate.
I would like to continue serving as the Region 5 Principal Representative on the Board of Directors for KASC because I truly believe in the organization and the support it provides administrators and councils across the state. Serving on the board for the last two years, I’ve seen first-hand the positive impact from its advocacy, professional development, and resources. I believe my experience as a school administrator, as well as a teacher representative SBDM provides me with a unique, dual perspective.

Region 6 Principal
Nick Williams

My name is Nick Williams and I reside in Mount Vernon, KY with my wife Sierra. We have three children, Kason (10), Cannon (6), and Ivy (3). In my time away from school I enjoy supporting my kids at their sporting events and playing golf with my sons. As a family we enjoy traveling any chance we get. Our favorite places to visit are Hilton Head Island and Pigeon Forge, TN. Also, as a family we love attending UK sporting events or MLB games (Braves and Reds).
I graduated from the University of Kentucky in 2009 and was honored to attend as a Robinson Scholar. In July of 2012, I was blessed to be hired at Rockcastle County Middle School with Rockcastle County Schools. I served as a Health Education teacher for 5 years. I then transitioned to teaching pre-engineering for 3 years under the Project Lead The Way curriculum as RCMS looked to expand its STEM education offerings. In 2020, I was blessed to become the assistant principal/athletic director at Rockcastle County Middle School. I served in that role for two years and was blessed to be named the principal at Brodhead Elementary in 2022. I have been serving as the principal at Brodhead Elementary for the past 3 years. Outside of being a dad and husband, serving as the principal of Brodhead Elementary has been the greatest honor of my life. I’m so proud of the growth my students and staff have shown. In three years we have moved from a school below the state average to the 2nd ranked elementary school in Kentucky. As a school we are proud of that honor, but most importantly we recognize we are changing the lives of our students whom many come from challenging situations.
I have been honored to serve as the region 6 principal representative on the KASC board this school year. I have always viewed KASC as a tremendous organization that provides great resources to support schools. Over the past year I have enjoyed learning more about KASC and feel honored to be a part of a great organization. I would love the privilege to continue as a board member at KASC. As a school leader I not only want to have a positive impact on my students, but students all across Kentucky. KASC is known as a great organization that does exactly that. It would be an honor to continue as a board member to help achieve that goal.

At-Large Director

Allene Houston-Jones

Allene Houston Jones proudly serves as an At Large Director for KASC. With an impressive 31 years in education, including 11 years with Paducah Public Schools, she brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role. Formerly the principal of Paducah Middle School, she now works as the District Instructional Specialist, further strengthening her impact on education. Allene is passionate about continuing her service on the board of directors, as she firmly believes in the importance of SBDM Councils in supporting schools across Kentucky. Drawing from her direct experience as a middle school principal, she deeply appreciates the significant role of KASC and aspires to remain a steadfast advocate for educators, administrators, and students in our region.

SBDM holds significant value for me because it ensures schools have the opportunity to shape decisions at the local level. Educators, who work closely with students each day and play a pivotal role in fostering their academic growth, should be empowered to contribute to these decisions. Collaborating with principals, teachers, parents, and students, schools can allocate funds strategically to enhance learning outcomes. Moreover, I firmly believe SBDM Councils provide a powerful tool for amplifying the voices of students of color and addressing the achievement gap. Without SBDM Councils, the needs of students of color risk being overlooked. These councils offer these students a crucial opportunity to access an equitable and enriched academic experience comparable to their peers.

and three years later became Assistant Superintendent for the Covington Independent Public
